Do you need help communicating to children about subjects such as cancer, death and funerals? Have you or a loved one received unfortunate medical related news relating to cancer or illness? Are you unsure how to explain the diagnosis to your children or grandchildren? Frog Stories wonderfully illustrated, interactive stories are written to provide children and adults the ability to share a tender moment of dialogue and understanding as to the realities of life, illness and death. Each storybook order includes a set of crayons to allow the child to help express their feelings through active participation with the stories.
Following her cancer diagnosis Doris Davis wrote a story using a frog theme to address the needs of a child when family members are diagnosed with cancer. Her son, Jeff Davis of Greenwood, Indiana, illustrated "Communicating Cancer to Children” and the story became a book.
The following year 2008 her second book “Helping Children Through Grief” was introduced and the frogs hopped into funeral homes. The third book in the series is “Good-Bye Grandpa Frog.” This book walks children through the funeral home and prepares them for the total funeral experience. Twelve months after the first call was made on a funeral home, over one hundred independently owned funeral home locations as well as hospitals, hospice, organizations, schools, churches and cancer centers across the country are now using the books.
If your business or organization is looking for ways to help your customer's youngest family members understand and deal with life's unfortunate realities then we recommend "The Jumpy Lumpy Grumpy Frog" series of children's storybooks. The child friendly character books are aimed to reach out to children under the age of 10 that are in crises or grieving for a loved one.
Many funeral homes offer the "Good-Bye Grandpa Frog" to the parents and or grandparents during the initial meeting when funeral arrangements are being made. One of our customers places a small ad on the obituary page of local news paper and invites those having the need for a childrens book on grief to visit their location. This often brings new families into their facility. Our sales efforts are directed toward Independently owned funeral homes only. The majority of our customers use less than 100 books per year. We prefer to have only one customer per community.
When dealing with young children and a terminal illness or death of a loved one PLEASE do not keep quiet. BE HONEST AND TELL THEM.....only as much as it takes to satisfy them, so they can hear the truth. This could deter their imagination from making it into something worse; children have great imaginations and remember “I don’t know” can sometimes be the most truthful answer you can give.
